Understanding and Working With Suicide - Training
Suicide is treatable and preventable.
Training will always be tailored to the needs and learning styles of those in attendance, and to support the goals of the training.
Training can be delivered to:
Trainings are available in a half day, full day, 2 day and 3 day formats. For greater depth and support, multiple trainings over an extended period are recommended.
The training format is experiential. Participants learn through a combination of information sharing/teaching, exercises, practice, self discovery and awareness.
The most important criteria for participants in a training is a caring heart. Education level is not important. The work is more easily learned and integrated through the heart than with the head.
A full training in facilitating Family Constellation Work that would provide the necessary skills to work effectively with suicide, as well as trauma, sexual abuse, addictions, depression, family violence, grief, residential school abuse, eating disorders, self injury, self esteem and other issues, is also available.
This would require 5-three day training sessions, which would leave participants with a basic foundation to facilitate Family Constellation work for others.

- Participants learn to identify and resolve the underlying issues that are manifesting as suicidal thoughts, or creating a risk of suicide in individuals.
- Participants gain the skills needed to identify the issues underlying suicidal thoughts and work it through in the clients' first session.
- Participants learn to work with those that have experienced loss due to suicide and how to facilitate a greater level of completion so that those who have lost loved ones are not at risk of suicide as well.
- Participants develop greater connection, awareness and increased ability with their own unique healing gifts and gain confidence to share their gifts with others.
- Participants have the opportunity to address and experience healing of their own pain and trauma.
Training can be delivered to:
- Lay people who want to gain an understanding of the issues underlying suicide and ways to heal and resolve those issues in those at risk or to help those who have been affected by suicide.
- Therapists or counselors who want to expand their perspective and toolbox when it comes to working with suicide.
- Trained professionals already experienced in working with suicide.
- Nurses or doctors who want to learn to work more effectively with patients at risk of suicide.
- Elders and traditional or alternative healers who wish to expand their understanding and tools for working with suicide and those affected by suicide.
